Bloody Mary Sundays and Clothes Swapping

The Cocktail Ponders of Miss Bella-Rouge pt9

Primark To Prada- Macmillan Clothes Swap

A few months ago some girlfriends of mine came up with the idea of getting together and swapping clothes, we were all feeling the money pinch yet we all had a tonne of clothes leftover in our wardrobes that had never been used!
Here was born our evening ‘Primark to Prada’. Hosted at Circo we decided to really go for it, getting sponsorship from Brugal Rum’s, with all the proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer support.
Our very own specialist cocktail menu was printed by Brugal (Maxxium Brands) and they donated a case of rum for cocktails that people could make a donation towards on the evening.
Our menu consisted of a Clasic Brugal Mojito,
A Macmillan Daiquiri- Made with home made Mate Gomme (a South American Tea) and
A Double Brugal Mai Thai
Needless to say the menu went down a storm and encouraged people to be generous with the raffle we did. We had a tonne of prizes donated by local businesses and drinks companies which was so generous.  We had a local salon offering eyebrow threading and nail treatments alongside Anthony Milner from AKM Photography with a mini studio ready to snap at the girls in their new found items of clothing and perfectly threaded eyebrows!  Anthony actually does great fashion shoots in their own Bath studio, and he even teams it up with cocktail master-classes at Sub 13 in bath! https://www.facebook.com/fashionphotographeruk

In all we raised nearly £500 on the evening and everyone went away with some great clothes and full of yummy rum drinks!

Bloody Mary Sundays

I have recently decided that Sundays are the day of the Bloody Mary. Cool, crisp and spicy beverages that slip down so easily at Brunch with Eggs Florentine!
At Circo Bloody Mary Sundays have taken off with the staff enthused by the complexity of ingredients you can use to make a good Mary.
The name "Bloody Mary" is associated with a number of historical figures — particularly Queen Mary I of England, who was nicknamed as such in Foxe's Book of Martyrs for attempting to re-establish the Catholic Church in Britain — and fictional women from folklore. Some drink aficionados believe the inspiration for the name was Hollywood star Mary Pickford. Others trace the name to a waitress named Mary who worked at a Chicago bar called the Bucket of Blood, however, we think our home grown bartenders’ recipes stand out from the crowd….indulge in one of ours…or even build your own!

After trying them all, in a vigourous tasting session, my favourite has to be the Ninja Mary. Although Ninjas don’t consume any alcohol this cheeky mary hits you with salty celery tones balanced with sweet cherry heering and sake. Its just gorgeous!
